In loving memory of John Glenn Niemeyer, who passed away suddenly on April 17, 2026, at the age of 64. Born on February 20, 1962, in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, John was named after the legendary astronaut John Glenn, who first circled the Earth three times in 1962—an adventurous spirit that John carried throughout his life.
John was the beloved son of the late Bruce Lorain Niemeyer and Lila Louise Reynolds. He was also predeceased by his brother Bruce Allen Neimeyer and his daughter Sherry Higley. He leaves behind a family who cherished him deeply, including his wives Misty and Theresa, and their children Devon and Skylar. He is also survived by his loving sisters Cathy and Vonda brothers Rich and Robert, and numerous nieces, nephews and grandkids who will forever hold him in their hearts.
A man of remarkable dedication, John achieved perfect attendance throughout his schooling at North Side High School in Ft. Wayne, where he also earned the title of Spelling Bee Champion in middle school. His work ethic was evident in his 44 and a half years of service at Dunlap-Swain, where he began by pumping gas and rose to the esteemed position of General Manager. John’s hard work and commitment were recognized with numerous accolades and trips over the years.
John had a passion for drag racing, a fervor that saw him immersed in the sport from the 1990s to the early 2000s. His car, affectionately named "MAMAS TOY," was a tribute to his deep love for his mother, Lila. Music also played a significant role in John's life, with countless memories made at concerts enjoyed with family and friends. His love for life and adventure was infectious and inspired those around him.
A service to celebrate John’s life will be held on May 23, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Grace Family Church, located at 1953 Mill Creek Rd, Canton, TX 75103. Family, friends, and all who were touched by John’s kindness and generosity are invited to honor his memory.
John Glenn Niemeyer lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication. His legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege to know him. He will be remembered fondly for his unwavering devotion to his family and his indomitable spirit. May he rest in eternal peace, reunited with those he loved who have gone before him.
