John passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his cherished family, a testament to the deep connections he nurtured throughout his life. Born on August 28, 1956, in St. Louis County, John spent 69 years spreading joy and leaving a lasting impact on everyone he met.
John was the beloved son of the late Gordon Olds and Bobbie Rountree, and stepson to the late Charles "Bud" Rountree. He was a devoted family man, preceded in death by his grandson, Brayden Olds, whose memory he held close to his heart.
He is survived by an extensive and loving family, including his siblings: Richard Olds, Linda Graham, Mary Sloan, Kenneth (Gina) Rountree, Charleen Rountree, and David Rountree, along with three stepbrothers. John's legacy continues through his children, John Olds Jr., Nakesha Alfred, and his beloved daughter-in-law, Lisa Glass, as well as several stepchildren. He cherished his role as a grandfather to many, including Deshaun Olds, Jewel Surls, Jaylen Surls, Kylie Alfred,Devin price, Bryce Olds, Abel Olds, and Rylee Olds.
John spent many years as a dedicated welder at the Jonesburg Clutch Factory. His strong work ethic and skilled hands were the foundation of his career, earning him the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike.
Beyond his professional life, John was an avid outdoorsman who found solace and joy in nature. He loved spending time at local creeks, where the serenity of the water mirrored his gentle spirit. John's love for adventure extended to his passion for riding motorcycles and his appreciation for a good old hot rod, always ready for a ride that promised exhilaration and freedom.
John was a sweetheart known for his thoughtful nature and unwavering commitment to his beliefs. Though he could be hot-headed, his convictions were born from a place of integrity and a deep sense of justice. John had an uncanny ability to make those around him feel cherished, always ready with a warm hug and an infectious enthusiasm for life. He was always ready for a good time, bringing laughter and joy to every gathering.
As we bid farewell to John, we celebrate the indelible mark he left on our hearts. His warmth, humor, and unwavering love will live on through the countless memories we shared. While the world feels a bit dimmer without him, we find comfort in knowing that his spirit will continue to guide us, reminding us to embrace life with open arms and a loving heart.
