John "Edward" Dyer

November 29, 1959 — June 7, 2026

John "Edward" Dyer, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on June 7, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and dedication. Born on November 29, 1959, in the vibrant city of New Orleans, Louisiana, John was the cherished son of Willie Turner and Geraldine Dyer Turner. As he joins his parents and brothers, Alvin, Oliver "Audubon," and Reverend Horace, in eternal rest, we are left to honor the remarkable life he lived. John, affectionately known as Edward to those close to him, embarked on his educational journey at Alice C. Fortier, graduating proudly in 1977. His pursuit of knowledge continued at Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, where he embraced the world of academia with enthusiasm and dedication. His time there molded him into a man of integrity and intellect, qualities that he carried throughout his life. In his professional life, John found his calling in the hotel industry, where he became known for his unwavering commitment to hospitality and service. His warm smile could illuminate even the darkest of days, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of encountering him. His dedication to his work was a testament to his character, and he took immense pride in his ability to bring comfort and joy to others. Edward was a proud bearer of the Dyer name, a legacy he shared with his late brother, Alvin. Together, they wore their "Dyer's A/C and Heating" logo shirts with pride, a simple yet profound tribute to their family's heritage. So often did Edward wear his shirt that his apartment manager believed he had transitioned from the hotel industry to the family business. It was a testament to the pride he held for his family's name and the deep connection he felt to his roots. In his passing, John leaves behind his cherished niece & god-daughter Shelita Dyer and great-niece, Dina Dyer, who were a source of great joy and pride in his life. They, along with the many friends and loved ones he touched, will continue to carry his spirit forward, ensuring that his legacy of kindness and dedication endures. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to a charity of your choice in John's memory, allowing his spirit of generosity and compassion to continue making a difference in the world. The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
