Born on October 27, 1952, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, John was the cherished son of the late Flemister Earl Gibson and Margaret Mary Gibson. His journey through life was one marked by love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his family and community. John was a product of the Philadelphia Catholic school system, where he received an education that laid the foundation for a life rooted in faith and service. His gentle spirit and mechanical aptitude led him to a fulfilling career with SEPTA, where he worked as a junior mechanic. His colleagues remember him as a diligent and reliable worker, always ready to lend a helping hand and share a word of encouragement. A devout member of St. Raymond of Penafort Roman Catholic Church, John's faith was a guiding light throughout his life. He was a familiar face at the church, where he devoted countless hours to both spiritual growth and community service. His warm smile and genuine kindness endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. John's greatest joy was his family. He was the loving father of two daughters, Inga Gibson Simmons and Angela Gibson, who were the light of his life. His legacy of love continues through his five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable happiness and pride. John's wisdom, humor, and gentle guidance will be deeply missed by his brothers Joseph (Gloria), Vincent, and Vernon (Michele), as well as by his many nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends whose lives he touched. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his beloved father, Flemister Earl Gibson, and his cherished mother, Margaret Mary Gibson. Their spirits undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms as he transitioned to eternal peace. While his passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, we take solace in the beautiful memories and love that John shared with us all. His life was a testament to the power of kindness, the importance of family, and the strength of faith. He leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will continue to inspire those who knew him. A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor John's life and legacy, allowing his family and close friends to gather in reflection and remembrance. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in John's memory to St. Raymond of Penafort Roman Catholic Church, where he found so much peace and community.
