John De Lotto

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John De Lotto, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, who gently departed this world on July 19, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family, after a courageous battle with dementia. John was born on November 23, 1954, in Passaic County, New Jersey, to the late Marie and John De Lotto of Fairfield, New Jersey. John led a life of service and love, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him. He was predeceased by his devoted wife, Cindy L. De Lotto (Flemm), with whom he shared more than 40 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built a home filled with warmth and joy in Wayne, New Jersey, and later realized their dream by retiring to Amelia, Virginia, where they crafted their dream home with love and care. John proudly served his community as a dedicated officer with the Fairfield Police Department for 25 years. His commitment and excellence in duty earned him numerous commendations, and he was honored with the rank of Corporal. Beyond his official roles as a firearms instructor and accident reconstructionist, John was a mentor and a friend to many. After retiring, his spirit of service continued as he volunteered with the Painville Fire Department, reflecting his unwavering dedication to helping others. John's life was enriched by his love for the outdoors. An avid hunter and fisherman, he cherished every moment spent with his son in the peaceful embrace of nature. He also found great joy in working with his hands and always offered his skills and guidance to those who needed it. His laughter was infectious, his kindness boundless, and he had a remarkable ability to turn strangers into friends. Many will remember John for his jokes, his smiles, and his profound warmth. John is survived by his loving sister, Diane Pezzillo (De Lotto), and nephew, Jefferey Boyajian. His legacy continues through his children: son, Derek De Lotto and daughter-in-law, Valentina De Lotto; daughter, Danielle Kuhlman (De Lotto) and son-in-law, William Kuhlman. His grandsons, Gunnar and Rheinar Kuhlman, will forever carry his spirit in their hearts. The family extends their deepest gratitude to everyone who has supported and cared for John, especially during these challenging years. A heartfelt thank you to James River Hospice for their compassionate care, and to the Kerwin Family, Fairfield Police Department, Karen Hands, and The Slavik Family for their unwavering support and love.
