John Davenport November 1, 1952 – May 8, 2026 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Davenport, who left this world on May 8, 2026, after a valiant battle with lung cancer. Born in Hamilton, Ohio, on November 1, 1952, John spent his final moments at the Hospice of Cincinnati, cradled by the love of his family. John's journey through life was marked by dedication, love, and service. He was a devoted husband to Ava Davenport, with whom he shared a remarkable 54-year marriage. Their love story began in Dollywood, Tennessee, where they exchanged vows on August 20, 1972. Their honeymoon in Paris, France, was a testament to their adventurous spirits, as they savored exquisite local cuisine and enriched their bond amidst the city's romantic allure. A man of service, John proudly served in the United States Air Force, where he found his calling in the skies. His military service laid the foundation for a successful career as an engineer at A&M Engineering. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for aviation, John was renowned for his expertise in troubleshooting and fixing technical issues on airplanes, particularly the Boeing 737. His contributions to the field were significant, and he found great joy in sharing his knowledge through his active participation in the Aviation Society. John was not only a skilled engineer but also a man of many passions. An avid mechanic, he spent countless hours in his garage, lovingly restoring old cars. His enthusiasm for building was infectious, and he cherished the moments spent assembling model cars and airplanes with his children and grandchildren—treasured memories that will forever be etched in their hearts. Above all, John was a family man. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ava Davenport, his children Michelle Baker and William Davenport, and his three cherished grandchildren. His family was his pride and joy, and the legacy of love and wisdom he leaves behind will continue to guide them. A service to honor John's life will be held on July 4, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Martin of Tours, located at 3720 St Martins Pl, Cincinnati, Ohio. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by John are invited to celebrate his remarkable journey. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice, as a tribute to John's generous spirit and enduring commitment to helping others. John Davenport's life was a symphony of love, dedication, and passion. Though he has departed from this world, his spirit will forever soar in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
