It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of John Dallam Parsons, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, on February 22, 2026. John left this world peacefully in the loving embrace of his family at his home. Born on July 12, 1935, in the quaint town of Waldorf, Maryland, John lived a full and vibrant life, touching many with his warmth and charisma.
John was the beloved son of the late Julian Lynch Parsons and Alice Mosner Parsons, who predeceased him. He is survived by his devoted wife, Carolyn Dyson Parsons, whom he married on October 10, 1959, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Waldorf, Maryland. Their union was a testament to enduring love and companionship, spanning over six decades.
John's legacy continues through his children: Brenda Lee Cope, John Dallam Parsons II (wife Mary), and Daniel Lynch Parsons (wife Kathy). He was the proud grandfather to eight grandchildren: Jessica Lynn Woodley (husband Adam), Lauren Yvonne Record, John Dallam Parsons III, Vincent Paul Parsons, Michael Joseph Parsons, Natalie Anne Snuggs (husband Mason), and Stephanie Meghan Parsons. His joy expanded further with the arrival of his great-grandchildren: Madeline Belle Woodley, Amelia Grace Woodley, and Remington Alex Pizzuti.
A graduate of La Plata High School in La Plata, Maryland, John's dedication to his country was evident through his service as a Military Police Officer in the Maryland National Guard. His career flourished as the owner of Oxon Hill Florist and Parson Colonial Florist, where his keen eye for beauty and detail was evident in every arrangement he crafted.
John's community involvement was extensive and impactful. He served as President and Member of the Laurel Lions Club and held the esteemed position of Commodore at The Prospect Bay Yacht Club. His leadership and commitment to service reflected his generous spirit and desire to uplift those around him.
An avid golfer and boater, John found solace on the golf course and the open water, passions that brought joy and camaraderie with friends and family. In his youth, he delighted in playing baseball and embraced the thrill of water and snow skiing. Always full of energy and zest for life, John was affectionately likened to the "Energizer Bunny," a reflection of his boundless enthusiasm and vibrant personality.
A service celebrating John's life will be held on March 14, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Our Mother of Sorrow Catholic Church, located at 301 Homewood Ave, Centreville, MD 21617. Family and friends are invited to honor his extraordinary life and the profound impact he had on all who knew him.
