John Charles hayes

February 4, 1941 — June 11, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Charles Hayes, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who died peacefully at home surrounded by family on June 11, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on February 4, 1941, in Lowell, Massachusetts, John was the cherished son of Franceline (Sally) and Wells Hayes. John led a life marked by dedication, service, and love. In 1959, he proudly joined the United States Air Force, serving until 1963. It was during his time stationed in Niagara Falls that he met the love of his life, Diana Deubler. The two were wed on April 27, 1963, embarking on a beautiful journey of 63 years together. They made their home in Niagara Falls, where they raised their family, until moving to Dunedin, Florida, in 2019 to be closer to their loved ones. A devoted family man, John was the proud father of three children: John Charles Hayes Jr., Suzie Hayes, and Kenneth Michael Hayes. His legacy also lives on in his five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life. Professionally, John dedicated himself to the Niagara Falls Police Department, where he worked as a dispatcher until his retirement. His commitment to his community extended beyond his career. John was deeply involved with the Elks, serving as the state vice president of the West District Elks in 2000 and holding numerous leadership roles in Elks Lodge 346 in Niagara Falls. A man of many interests, John found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid sports enthusiast, sharing his love of baseball by coaching Little League with his sons. He spent countless hours on the golf course, by the water fishing, and at the bowling alley, always cherishing the time spent with family and friends. John's warmth and kindness were felt by all who knew him. His love for his family was evident in every moment he spent with them, and his friends knew him as a loyal and generous spirit, always ready with a smile and a helping hand. In keeping with John's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in John's memory to the American Heart Association, a cause close to his heart. John Charles Hayes will be remembered as a man of integrity and love, who lived his life with honor and grace. His memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him. Rest in peace, dear John. You will be missed beyond measure.
