With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of John "Jack" Carter, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, who entered into eternal rest on May 3, 2026, at the age of 95. Born on December 22, 1930, in Madisonville, Ohio, Jack was the cherished son of Leslie and Marie Carter. He was predeceased by his loving parents, his dear wife Helen, and his sister Kris, leaving behind a legacy of love and resilience.
Jack's journey on this earth was one of adventure and dedication. After graduating from high school in Clearwater, Florida. His patriotic spirit led him to serve in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1954, a period during which he displayed courage and honor. He then furthered his education at the College of Southern Idaho, earning an Associate of Science degree.
In 1960, Jack's life took a joyous turn when he married Helen Luedke on July 14th. Their love story began when Jack, a traveling salesman, crossed paths with Helen, a spirited hairdresser and farmer's daughter. Together, they built a family grounded in love and support, raising three wonderful children: Robert (LaNae) Carter, Kelly Carter, and Mike (Nikki) Carter. Jack's legacy continues to thrive through his grandchildren, Nick (Ashley) Carter and Chelsea (Aaron) Harrison, and he delighted in the laughter and joy of his four great-grandchildren.
A "Jack of all trades," as he was fondly known, Jack's career was as diverse as it was impactful. He wore many hats, from a realtor to a City Councilman and a dedicated employee at the Bureau of Land Management. His work reflected his commitment to community and service, values he carried into his roles as a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and a committed Boy Scout Leader.
Jack's passion for genealogy allowed him to trace his family's roots back to the 1400s, a testament to his appreciation for history and family heritage. This hobby was a source of joy and discovery, connecting him to generations past and present.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jack's remarkable life at a gathering on May 30, 2026, at 12:00 PM. The celebration will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, in the fellowship hall, located at 2700 S. Kimball Ave., Caldwell, ID. The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Grace Assisted Living in Caldwell, whose care and kindness during Jack's final years were deeply appreciated.
Jack Carter's life was a tapestry of love, service, and dedication. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those he touched. May he rest in peace, reunited with those who have gone before, and may his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
