In Loving Memory

John Campugan
August 31, 1957 — June 8, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of John Campugan, a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, on June 8, 2026, surrounded by his loving family in Yuma, Arizona. Born on August 31, 1957, in Cebu, Philippines, John lived a life rich with adventure, love, and laughter.
John was the cherished son of Constancio and Ping Campugan, and he was predeceased by his father. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Richy; his brothers, Alex and Larry; his sisters, Mary, Helna, and Delia; his loving daughter, Sherlaine; treasured stepson Nico, and his treasured grandson, MJ. John’s family was the cornerstone of his life, and his love for them was as expansive as the skies he so often fished and hunted beneath.
From a young age, John was captivated by motorcycles, a passion that began at the tender age of four. He and his brother Alex would spend hours helping a neighbor repair motorcycles in the Philippines, igniting a lifelong enthusiasm for mechanics and adventure. This early fascination laid the foundation for a career built on hard work and dedication at Liberty Motor Sports in Yuma Az. John was the GOAT and an invaluable employee at Liberty. John had the ability to merely listen to a sick motorcycle and determine its sickness. He also had the ability to build a motorcycle from a pile of parts left on the floor. He was the greatest of all time.
In his leisure time, John was an avid hunter and fisherman. His spirit could often be found on the serene lakes and rivers around Yuma, where he battled trout and bass. Summers saw him venturing to the coast of San Diego, indulging in deep-sea tuna fishing, his heart always drawn to the call of the sea. An enthusiastic elk and dove hunter, John embraced the wilds of Arizona with the same zest he applied to all areas of his life.
John was a man of stories, with a warm smile that could brighten the darkest day. His tales of diving in the Philippines and his many adventures were shared with a twinkle in his eye, leaving those around him richer for the experience. His joy was contagious, his laughter a melody that played in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege to know him.
The family will hold a service to celebrate John's life on June 13, 2026, at 9:00 AM at the Johnson Mortuary in Yuma. They extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the mortuary for their compassionate care and guidance during this difficult time.
John Campugan's legacy is one of love, adventure, and unyielding kindness. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, and in the stories he leaves behind. As we bid farewell to a remarkable man, we hold onto the memories he gifted us and find solace in knowing that his spirit will forever linger in the places he loved most.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that those wishing to honor John's memory consider spending a day outdoors—fishing, hunting, or simply enjoying nature—as he so often did, celebrating the beauty of life in his own indomitable way.
