August 22, 1947 — March 26, 2026

It is with profound sadness and heartfelt remembrance that we announce the passing of our beloved John C. Dodd, who departed this world on March 26, 2026. Born on August 22, 1947, in Pittsburgh, PA, John left an indelible mark on the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing him. He passed away peacefully in hospice care, having bravely battled the complications of a ruptured appendix and sepsis. John was the cherished son of Arthur and Jennette Dodd. He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Christine Fehlner Dodd, who stood as the love of his life since their wedding on February 21, 1970. Together, they built a legacy of love and dedication that inspired all who knew them. John's memory will also be lovingly carried forward by his sister, Susan Simchock, and her husband, John, as well as his three daughters: Maureen Martin and her husband, Eric; Anna Kroll; and Monica Brooks and her husband, Byron. His presence will be dearly missed by his five grandchildren—Brennan and Dawson Martin, Avery and Carson Kroll, and Zachary Brooks—who brought him immense pride and joy. A scholar at heart, John graduated from Paul D. Schreiber Senior High School in 1965 and went on to earn a BS in Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Maryland in 1970. He pursued further education, obtaining a Master's Degree in Management of Technology: Computer Science and Information Systems in 1974 from American University. John's professional journey began as a software programmer at Unisys, leading to a distinguished 43-year tenure at Computer Sciences Corporation. His visionary work was integral to the success of the Apollo Project, and he played a pivotal role in the management of NASA's satellite and space station programs. His contributions were recognized with the prestigious acknowledgment of the successful launch and deployment of the TDRS-3 satellite system on Space Shuttle Discovery in 1988. John was also celebrated as a CSC finalist for the Award for Excellence in 2012. In retirement, John's passion for innovation and service continued as the President and Founder of BCD Health-IT. His dedication to improving healthcare for veterans and those with chronic care needs was exemplified through the development of LifePulse360, a platform that has touched countless lives. John was an active member of St. John's the Evangelist Church, where he found strength and community. He was a man of many interests, an avid golfer, and a passionate supporter of University of Maryland sports teams. Above all, he cherished the time spent watching his grandchildren play sports and achieve their dreams. Known for his boundless kindness and generosity, John possessed the rare ability to connect deeply with others, always eager to lend an ear and offer support. His selfless care for his wife, Christine, was a testament to his character, embodying the very essence of love and devotion. A service to celebrate John's remarkable life will be held on April 13, 2026, at St. John The Evangelist, located at 10431 Twin Rivers Road, Columbia, Maryland 21044. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy Research, a cause close to John's heart. Donations can be made at https://www.angiopathy.org/support-us. The family extends their deepest gratitude to Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center for their compassionate care during John's final days. John will be forever remembered and cherished in our hearts. We find solace in knowing that his legacy of love, innovation, and compassion will continue to inspire us all.
