John Ralph Bible

John Bible, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on August 26, 2026. Born on April 13, 1941, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to John and Lydia (Miller) Bible, John lived a rich and fulfilling life marked by kindness, service, and love for his family and community. John's journey through life was characterized by his unwavering dedication to those he held dear. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy from October 7, 1959, to August 23, 1962, where he developed a strong work ethic and a deep sense of responsibility that followed him throughout his life. On July 3, 1980, in Aberdeen, South Dakota, John married the love of his life, Shirley. Together, they shared 37 wonderful years, creating a loving family and countless cherished memories. Although Shirley and their great-grandson Alan predeceased him, John's legacy continues through his devoted children Amanda Bible, Tammie Robinson, Tennille Bible, Michelle Ward, Alan (Sue) Guthmiller, Brandon Bible, and Joshua Bible; his grandchildren Kimber (Michael) Beck and John Guthmiller; and his great-grandchildren Oliver Beck and Dillon Beck. He is also survived by his brother, Rollie Bible. John's professional life was marked by dedication and passion. He worked as a Broadcast Engineer for the Journal Broadcasting Group and, upon retiring, continued to contribute his talents at Warren Distribution in the shipping department for ten years. His work ethic and commitment were evident to all who knew him. Beyond his professional life, John was a man of community and faith. An active member of the Gethsemane Presbyterian Church in Council Bluffs, Iowa, he extended warmth and generosity to everyone he met. Known for his welcoming nature, he always had a piece of candy to share and a handkerchief ready for the ladies, embodying a spirit of kindness and thoughtfulness that touched many lives. A memorial service to honor John's life will be held on August 16, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Gethsemane Presbyterian Church, 224 Wallace Avenue, Council Bluffs, Iowa 51503. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in John's memory to the Gethsemane Presbyterian Church. John will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, kindness, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. As his family lovingly expresses, "It's not goodbye, it's see you later, DaddyO."
