John was the beloved son of Roy and Marina Brooks, who instilled in him the virtues of kindness and integrity that he carried throughout his life. He was predeceased by his dear daughter, Carol Wiley, and his cherished brother, Glendon Brooks, whose memories he held close to his heart.
John is survived by his devoted long-term partner and wife, Janice Wiseman, who stood by his side as not only a partner but a confidante and the mother of his children. Together, they created a family filled with love and joy. His legacy continues through his sons, Anthony Dupree Brooks and John Joseph Brooks, who admired their father’s strength and compassion. John was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, whose laughter and smiles brought immense joy to his life.

Beyond his professional achievements, John was a man of simple pleasures. An avid fisherman, he found solace and joy on the water, casting his line with patience and hope. He was also a devoted Astros fan, cheering passionately from their very first game, celebrating every victory and lamenting each loss with unwavering loyalty.
John’s personal qualities were as vast and deep as the sea he once explored. A wonderful husband, father, and friend, he opened his home to anyone in need, offering a listening ear and a comforting presence. His wit and humor were legendary, always ready with a joke to brighten even the darkest of days. Above all, he was blessed with a good heart, embodying generosity and warmth that touched all who had the privilege of knowing him.
