John Alfred Williams, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully at St. Francis Hospital after a courageous battle with illness. Born on September 24, 1962, in Eufaula, Alabama, John was a beacon of kindness and generosity whose spirit touched the lives of all who knew him.
John was the cherished son of the late Moses and Lizzie Williams. He is predeceased by his parents, his brother James David Williams, and his sister Jacqueline Williams. He is survived by his loving mother Verdine Jones of Hammond, Indiana, and his devoted siblings: brothers Moses Williams Jr. (Georgia Battle), Tommie Williams (Mae) of Hammond, Indiana, Nelson Williams (Sherice) of Fayetteville, Georgia, and Tavaras Williams (Shunta) of Phenix City, Alabama; and sisters Clara Jones, Jessie Williams, Lavone Williams of Pittsview, Alabama, Mary Baker of Buena Vista, Georgia, Angela Carter, and Cassandra Douglas of Atlanta, Georgia. John also leaves behind two uncles, seven aunts, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his dear home boys.
John's education began at Pittsview Elementary in Russell County, and he later graduated from Hammond High School in Hammond, Indiana. Known for his warm heart and infectious smile, John was a man whose kindness and generosity left a lasting impact on everyone he encountered. His favorite saying, "I do what I do," encapsulated his approach to life, reflecting his steadfast determination and heartwarming humility.
A service to celebrate John's life will be held on August 15, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Glenville, Alabama. The family invites all who knew and loved John to join them in honoring his memory.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor John's life may make donations to a charity of their choice. The family of John Alfred Williams would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.
