It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left this world peacefully on March 12, 2026. Born on June 17, 1963, in Syracuse, New York, John was the cherished son of Matthew and Pearl, who preceded him in death alongside his brother, Matthew Jr. John's life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and joy. In 1983, he married his soulmate, Brenda, and together they embarked on a journey that would span over four decades. Their marriage was a beautiful testament to the power of love and partnership, weathering life's ups and downs with unwavering support for one another. Through their shared experiences, their bond only grew stronger, creating a foundation of love that touched everyone around them. As a father, John was a guiding light to his children, Shauntish Freeman (Anthony Freeman) and James Robinson. He took immense pride in nurturing his family, offering them wisdom, encouragement, and an endless supply of love. His role as a grandfather to 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren brought him immeasurable joy, and he treasured every moment spent with them. John's legacy also lives on in the lives of his nieces and nephews, who adored him dearly. John dedicated his professional life to Altec Welding Company, where his hard work and commitment made a lasting impact until his retirement in 2015. Outside of work, he was an avid fisherman, never missing an opportunity to cast a line and enjoy the tranquility of nature. He also found joy in bowling and cooking, often bringing family and friends together over a shared meal or a friendly game. Known for his witty smile and warm personality, John had a unique ability to light up any room. His natural sense of humor and calm presence made everyone feel at ease, and he was often the source of laughter and comfort. John was the person friends turned to for advice and a kind word, and his thoughtful nature left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him. His genuine character and welcoming smile will be deeply missed by all those whose lives he touched. In honoring John's wishes, a private funeral service will be held to celebrate his life. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all the friends and family who have offered their love and support during this difficult time of grief. As we remember John, let us celebrate the fullness of his life and the love he shared with so many. May his spirit live on in the hearts of those who knew him, and may he find eternal peace in the embrace of those who have gone before him.
