September 25, 1961 — July 4, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Fuchs, who left this world unexpectedly on July 4, 2026, while visiting his daughter Peggy and her family in Oklahoma. Born on September 25, 1961, in Elbert County, Colorado, John was a beloved son, brother, father, and grandfather who touched the lives of all who knew him with his kindness and zest for life. John was the cherished son of Robert and Joy Fuchs, both of whom preceded him in death, as did his dear sisters, Peggy and Penny. He is survived by his loving children: Clayton, Nikki, Dillon, and Peggy, his devoted older brother, Rob, and a legacy of 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, who will forever hold him close in their hearts. A graduate of Elbert High School in 1979, John embarked on a life enriched by hard work and dedication. He began his career as a ranch hand, nurturing a deep connection with the land and animals. As his career progressed, he spent many years setting mobile homes before finding his true calling as a heavy equipment operator, a role he excelled in for the past 12 years. John's passions extended far beyond his professional life. He was a cowboy at heart, with a love for rodeoing that saw him competing in wild horse racing, bull riding, and bronc riding. His enthusiasm for draft horse pulling and his dedication to raising bucking bull stock were testament to his adventurous spirit and unwavering commitment to the 4-H community. John also found joy in coaching his daughter’s middle school basketball team, where his supportive nature and leadership shone brightly. Known for his magnetic personality, John was a man who drew people in with his warmth and generosity. He was a tough cowboy with a tender heart, always willing to lend a hand to those in need, particularly children and animals. His infectious laughter and ability to light up any room made him the life of the party on countless occasions. A celebration of John's life will be held on September 5, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the Elbert Christian Church, located at 23894 Broadway St, Elbert, Colorado 80106. Family and friends are invited to share in this special moment of remembrance and gratitude for a life well-lived. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to all who have offered condolences and support during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John's honor to a charity of choice that supports youth or animal welfare. As we say our final goodbyes, we hold onto the memory of John, the cowboy who has ridden away, leaving behind a trail of love and laughter that will never fade.
