It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Joelaine Brownlee, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend to many. Joelaine peacefully departed from this world on April 15, 2026, at the age of 63, surrounded by the love of her devoted son, Hyram Rashad Mattison, and daughter-in-law, Crystal Lovett, at her home in Moore, South Carolina. Born on February 11, 1963, in Anderson, South Carolina, Joelaine was the cherished daughter of the late Joe Timothy Mattison and Mamie Ann Mattison. She was predeceased by her beloved parents and her dear sisters, Irene Elizabeth Mattison and Lee Donna Martin. Joelaine's legacy of kindness and love continues through her surviving family members, her son, Hyram, and his spouse, Crystal, as well as her treasured grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Joelaine's educational journey was marked by her involvement with the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. during her time at Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina. Her membership in the sorority was a testament to her lifelong dedication to sisterhood, service, and community—a commitment that she upheld throughout her life. Joelaine embraced life's simple joys, finding laughter and camaraderie in the company of friends during lively games of bingo. Her artistic talents were evident in her love for decorating and creating exquisite flower arrangements, infusing warmth and beauty into every space she graced. The ocean's gentle waves offered her a sense of peace, and she cherished every moment spent at the beach, surrounded by friends and her adored grandchildren. Family was the cornerstone of Joelaine's existence. She treasured every moment shared with her loved ones, nurturing her family with a heart full of love and devotion. Her presence brought joy and comfort to all who knew her, and her legacy will forever be cherished. A celebration of Joelaine's remarkable life will be held on April 21, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Marcus Brown Funeral Home, located at 1212 S. Main Street, Belton, South Carolina. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Joelaine are invited to honor her memory and share in the stories of her joyous life. Joelaine Brownlee's light may have dimmed on this earth, but her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who loved her. She will be remembered as a beacon of love, laughter, and strength, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and compassion. May she rest in eternal peace.
