Joel departed this world peacefully on April 20, 2026, at the age of 95, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was surrounded by the warmth and love of his family, who will forever cherish the legacy he leaves behind. Joel was born on January 30, 1931, in Hemet, California, to his loving parents, Lupe and Jesus Hurtado. He was raised in a close-knit family alongside his siblings Junior, Ana, Rebeca, and Gustavo, who were his lifelong companions and confidants. From a young age, Joel exhibited a remarkable mechanical talent, which would later define his professional career. For over 30 years, Joel dedicated himself to his work as a mechanic at the local Ford dealership, where he was admired for his exceptional skill, unwavering work ethic, and infectious smile. His colleagues and customers alike respected him not only for his technical expertise but also for the kindness and patience he offered to everyone he met. Joel's hands were not just tools for fixing engines; they were instruments of care and craftsmanship. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Joel's greatest pride and joy were his family. A devoted father, he is survived by his children, Joel, Edgar, and Susana, who each carry forward his legacy of love, integrity, and compassion. Joel was a guiding light in their lives, teaching them to embrace kindness and to find beauty in the simple moments. Joel was also a cherished grandfather to seven grandchildren and a great-grandfather to two great-grandchildren. His eyes would light up with joy each time he spoke of them, and he treasured every opportunity to share stories, laughter, and love with his growing family. Joel's life will be celebrated on April 24, 2026, with a service at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, located at 780 S State St, Hemet, CA 92543. The service will commence at 5:00 PM. Family, friends, and all whose lives Joel touched are invited to join in honoring a man whose presence enriched the lives of many. In the face of life's challenges, Joel's spirit remained unyielding, and his heart, ever generous. His legacy is one of resilience, love, and the importance of community.
