Joel Allen Raffensberger

Joel Allen Raffensberger, a beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on July 29, 2026, following a short illness. Born on September 2, 1962, in York, PA, Joel was the cherished son of Floyd E. Raffensberger Jr. and Fay Raffensberger. He was predeceased by his father but is survived by his devoted wife, Tracie Hill, mother, Fay Raffensberger, brother, Lonnie Smith, and his nephew, Andrew Smith (Christy Smith), along with great-nephews, Logan and Wyatt Smith. Joel was a man of many talents and passions. He graduated from York Vocational Technical School and later from Penn State with a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, a field in which he built a distinguished career. He approached his work with the same dedication and enthusiasm that characterized all aspects of his life. On February 14, 2026, Joel married the love of his life, Tracie Gabriel Hill, in a heartfelt ceremony during an intimate Las Vegas getaway. Their time together, though short, was filled with joy and love, creating memories that will be cherished forever. Joel's life was rich with adventure and camaraderie. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, pursuits that allowed him to connect with nature and gather with friends. His vibrant personality was as colorful as the Hawaiian shirts he loved to wear. Joel's kindness and infectious spirit left a lasting mark on everyone he met. A dedicated volunteer, Joel was actively involved with the Glenn Rock Hose & Ladder, where he contributed his time and skills. He also had a passion for road course motorcycle racing and looked forward each year to his annual boys' trip, a tradition that brought together friends and created lifelong bonds. A memorial service to celebrate Joel's life will be held on August 3, 2026, at 1:00 PM at McMillan Small Funeral Home, located at 910 67th Avenue North, Myrtle Beach, SC 29572. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor Joel's memory. The service will also be live streamed. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to The American Heart Association in Joel's memory.
