In loving memory of Joe Womack Jr., who was called home on September 12, 2026, at St. Joseph Emory Hospital in Dunwoody, Georgia. Born on August 20, 1948, in Greenville, Alabama, Joe was the cherished son of Joe and Helen Cook Womack. His life was a testament to faith, family, and service, and he leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him. Joe's spiritual journey began early in life when he was baptized and embraced a lifelong relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. This foundation guided him throughout his life, leading him to become an esteemed member and ordained Elder in 1993 at the Church of God in Christ Church, Davis Temple, in Cleveland, Ohio. After graduating from Lomax Hannah High School, Joe bravely left Alabama to serve his country in the United States Air Force. His dedication and commitment were unwavering, and upon receiving an honorable discharge, he joined his family in Cleveland, Ohio. Joe briefly attended Tri-C Community College before embarking on a distinguished career with the United States Postal Service. Starting in 1985, his hard work and determination saw him rise to the position of Maintenance Supervisor until his retirement in 2004. Joe was a man of integrity and warmth, known for his love of dressing sharply, his passion for luxury vehicles, and his devotion to keeping his car immaculate. He found joy in reading the Bible, watching television, and cherishing time spent with family and friends. Above all, he was a devoted grandfather, whose love for his seven grandchildren was boundless. Joe was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Joe and Helen C. Womack, his brothers, John Edward Womack and Robert Womack, and his treasured grandparents, Joe and Myra Bell Carter. He is survived by his loving children: daughters Rochelle, Paschasia, and Jalandria Womack, and son Derrek Womack. He also leaves behind his siblings: Helen Merriweather, Bertha Crenshawn, Myra Womack, Booker T. Womack, Terry Womack, and Chester Womack, along with his dear Aunt Mattie Pearl Robinson and Uncle John Frazier Cook. Joe's legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Troyion Seals, Nathaniel, Na'Myia, and Namarco Cotton, Kyren Terrell, Tristyn Wright, and Devante' Massey. A service to honor and celebrate Joe's life will be held on September 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Gregory B. Levett & Sons, located at 1999 Hwy 138 SE, Conyers, Georgia 30013. Joe leaves behind a host of cousins, relatives, and friends who will forever hold his memory dear. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Joe's memory. Your acts of kindness and expressions of sympathy have been a source of comfort during this difficult time, and the family extends their heartfelt gratitude.
