December 5, 1961 — March 28, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joe Louis Brown Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who left this world peacefully on March 28, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Joe, born on December 5, 1961, in Yokosuka, Japan, was the cherished son of the late Joe Sr. and Yoshiko Suzuki. His journey was one of love, family, and unwavering dedication to those he held dear. Joe's early years were spent between Japan and the United States, where he completed his education, graduating from Carson High School in 1977. Even as a young boy, Joe's passion for sports was evident. He was a superstar quarterback in the Naval Base Pee-Wee Football league in Japan, a precursor to his lifelong enthusiasm for athletics. His love for Los Angeles sports was unmatched, as he proudly supported the Rams, Lakers, and Dodgers throughout his life, often seen wearing their gear with pride. In 1987, Joe met Michelle Dawson, and the two were married in 1988. Together, they welcomed three wonderful children into the world: Cristen, Quincy, and Ciera. Although their paths diverged, Joe's commitment to his children never wavered. Later, Joe's life was further enriched by his union with Roberta, with whom he was blessed with two sons, Jeremiah and Joseph. Joe's heart found its true home when he met his beloved wife, Katina, in 2010. Their 15 years of marriage were marked by mutual devotion, shared laughter, and a deep connection. Together, they joined Solid Rock Mission Church, where Joe served faithfully as an Armor Bearer to Bishop Jack Wilson. His faith was a guiding light, and he found solace and strength in his church community. Joe's family was his pride and joy. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Katina, his loving siblings Jeri (Tony) and Johnnie (Tiffany), his children Cristen (Rosa), Jeremiah, Joseph, and Ciera (Truth), affectionately known as “Mama,” and his adored grandchildren: Penelope, Blake, and Cameron. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly. Joe was predeceased by his parents, Joe Brown Sr. and Yoshiko Brown, his brother Jerry Brown, and his beloved son Quincy Brown. Joe's life was a testament to the power of love and family. He was a fixture at family gatherings and sporting events, always present, always cheering, and always offering his unwavering support. He had a knack for making people feel special and valued, a gift that will be sorely missed. Beyond his love for sports, Joe enjoyed playing chess, watching "Cops," and exploring new restaurants. He cherished spending quality time with his family and friends, creating memories that will be treasured forever. A service to celebrate Joe's life will be held on April 18, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Solid Rock Mission Church, located at 1601 E. Alondra Blvd., Compton, CA 90221. The Brown family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this challenging time. Your generosity, prayers, and comforting words have provided solace and strength. Joe Louis Brown Jr. was a man who lived with passion, loved with intensity, and left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Though he has left this earthly realm, his spirit will continue to guide and inspire. May he rest in eternal peace, enveloped in the love he so freely gave to others. — The Brown Family
