Joe David Taylor

February 5, 1961 — April 11, 2026

Anadarko, Oklahoma – It is with deep sorrow and a profound sense of gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Joe David Taylor, who left this world on April 11, 2026, at the age of 65. Born on February 5, 1961, in Anadarko, Oklahoma, Joe was the beloved son of the late Charles and Sally (Harpole) Taylor. Joe's journey through life was marked by deep roots in his community and a strong connection to his family. He was a proud elder member of the Delaware Nation, cherishing his heritage and serving on the tribal council with distinction. As a descendant of Black Beaver, Joe carried his ancestral legacy with pride and imparted this richness to those around him. Joe's life was one of dedication and devotion, not only to his family but to his work and community. After graduating from Anadarko High School in 1979, Joe pursued a degree in business from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, graduating in 1982. His career began as a parts manager at DeLong Buick and led him to roles at David Howe Motors as a service and parts manager. Joe's professional journey later took him to Baker Hughes and culminated at Washington Elementary, where his presence was a beacon of reliability and warmth. On May 13, 1982, Joe married the love of his life, Janalyn (Butler) Taylor. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter, preparing to celebrate 43 beautiful years of marriage next month. Janalyn, along with their children, Curtis Taylor and his wife Kallie of Oklahoma City, and Linsi Taylor of Oklahoma City, will forever cherish Joe's memory. Joe's family was his pride and joy, especially his grandchildren—Minor Addington, Emerson Addington, and Brooks Taylor—who affectionately called him Papa Joe. Known for his pranks, quick wit, and generosity, Joe's presence was a source of joy and mischief, whether he was skillfully pulling a tooth or sharing a light-hearted jest. Summers spent in the backyard pool and adventures in camping with his family were cherished times that will be remembered fondly. Joe is survived by a loving family, including his brother Charles Taylor of Houston, Texas, sister and brother-in-law Carol and Marc Jared of Anadarko, and a host of in-laws who were more like siblings—Kathy Neufeld and husband Rodney of Custer City, Sandra Teasley and husband Calvin of Weatherford, Rex Statser and wife Debbie of Yukon, and Susan Rollins and husband Rick of Austin, Texas. Preceding him in death were his parents, and his beloved mother-in-law, Mary Statser. The Taylor family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at the Indian Health Services in Clinton and Shepherd Home Health and Hospice of Clinton for their extraordinary care and support during Joe's final days. As we gather to celebrate Joe's life, we remember a man who was as generous as he was mischievous, whose love for his family was as deep as his laughter was infectious. Joe's legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched and in the stories shared around family tables for generations to come. A private ceremony will be held in Joe’s honor. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Joe David Taylor.
