It is with heavy hearts and profound respect that we announce the peaceful passing of Joe Aubrey West, who departed this life on January 1, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on December 20, 1932, in Waco, Texas, Joe was a cherished member of his community, a devoted family man, and a proud patriot who served his country with honor. Joe was the beloved son of the late Frank and Blanche West. He was preceded in death by his parents, his six brothers—Lance, Tom, Bobby, Frank, Larry, and Louis—and his sister, Billie Odum. Despite the heartaches of losing these dear family members, Joe carried their memories with him, always cherishing the bonds that shaped his life. Joe leaves behind a legacy of love and deep-rooted family values. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Aubrey Ramona West, and his loving son, Darrell Ray West. He was a cherished grandfather to his grandson, Adrian West, and granddaughters, Rochelle Pullen and Paula Hicks. Joe's heart was full with the joy of his 12 great-grandchildren and an ever-growing number of great-great-grandchildren, who will continue to be inspired by his life and legacy. He is also survived by his sister, Delores Scott, who held a special place in his heart. A man of principle and dedication, Joe was known for his love of education and his unwavering work ethic. These qualities guided him throughout his life, shaping the lives of those around him and leaving an indelible mark on his community. He believed in the power of knowledge and the importance of hard work, values that he instilled in his children and grandchildren. Joe served his country with pride as a member of the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. His time in the military was a testament to his courage and commitment to the freedoms we hold dear. Joe's service to his nation was a source of great pride, and it reflected the steadfast character for which he was known and admired. A celebration of Joe's life will be held on March 17, 2026, at 9:15 a.m. at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, located at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211. Family, friends, and all whose lives Joe touched are invited to join us in honoring this remarkable man who has left an unforgettable legacy of love, strength, and perseverance. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a local educational charity in Joe's memory, continuing his passion for learning and his dedication to the betterment of future generations. Joe Aubrey West lived a full and meaningful life, surrounded by the love of his family and the respect of his community. His spirit will continue to guide and inspire us, and his memory will forever remain in our hearts. As we bid farewell to a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, we find comfort in knowing that his legacy of love and dedication will live on in those he leaves behind.
