Joseph F. Doll

Joseph Frederick Doll Jr., a beloved brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on August 31, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on October 16, 1943, in Indianapolis, Joe was the son of the late Joseph Doll and Helen Jensen. Joe was a man of remarkable intellect and unwavering dedication, whose life was marked by service, education, and a deep commitment to his faith, his community and his family. Joe's educational journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Dayton in 1965, followed by a Master of Business Administration in International Business from American University in 1973. He furthered his passion for education with postgraduate studies at Harvard University in 1992 and pursued a Doctorate in Business Administration at Nova Southeastern University. His career in academia was illustrious, serving as the Director of the Reeves School of Business from 1992 to 2002 and as a tenured Professor of Business Administration until 2007. A proud veteran, Joe served his country with distinction as a Captain in the U.S. Army Medical Services Corps. His service included a tenure as an Administrative Officer in Surgical Research at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and an assignment at the U.S. Embassy's SEATO labs in Bangkok, Thailand. Joe was a man of faith and a devoted member of the Catholic Church. His commitment to service extended into his community involvement with numerous organizations, including the Fayetteville Rotary Club, North Carolina Methodist Home for Children, and the Fayetteville Area Health Education Center, among others. His dedication to the betterment of society was evident in his numerous memberships, ranging from the American College of Health Care Administrators to the Southeastern Entrepreneurial Roundtable. Joe walked the walk of what it meant to live a life lead by faith, and believed that faith in Jesus as Lord is a model for personal behavior. Known for his dependability and determination, Joe was a pillar of strength and kindness to those around him. He leaves behind a family who cherished him deeply: his siblings, Daniel Doll, John Doll and wife Abby, and Karen Gehbauer; his nieces, Nicole McNally and husband Ryan, Corinne Doll, Kathy Parks-Jackson, and Michele Burns; and his nephews, Connor Doll and wife Angel, Basil Doll, Bill Burns, John Doll Jr., Richard Burns, and Kevin Burns. He was also a proud grand-uncle to Anna McNally, Avery Doll, Sydney Doll, Evan McNally, and Charles Doll. He is predeceased by his sister, Joanna Parks. A service to celebrate Joe’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on September 18, 2026, at Our Lady of Peace Mausoleum Chapel located at 9001 Haverstick Road, Indianapolis, IN 46240. The family will host a Celebration of Life luncheon following the service, inviting all who knew Joe to join in remembering him. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the St. Philip Neri Conference, an active parish-based chapter of the society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP Indy), where Joe’s spirit of giving will continue to make an impact. Joe's legacy will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. His life was a testament to the power of education, service, and love, and he will be dearly missed by all.
