It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jody Sizer, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who left this world on May 6, 2026. Jody passed away peacefully at Mercy Hospital in California, surrounded by her loved ones, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born on August 5, 1960, Jody was a beacon of light and love, whose laughter could brighten the darkest of days.
Jody was welcomed into this world by her parents, Urban Waterman and Rosemary Alberts, in the golden state of California. She was predeceased by her loving parents, who surely greeted her with open arms in heaven. Jody's legacy continues through the lives of her devoted husband, James Sizer, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage blessed by God. Married on May 11, 2016, their union was a testament to love and faith, embodied by their cherished saying, "When two became one."
Jody was a proud mother to Cynthia Gonzalez and Rosemary Martin, and a loving stepmother to James Junior Sizer and Stephen Sizer. Her nurturing spirit extended to her cherished grandchildren: Alyssa Gonzalez, Lily Martin, Noah Martin, and Piper Martin, who brought immense joy to her life.
A graduate of Grant Union High School in 1978, Jody's work ethic was evident as she diligently supported her family through various roles in her early years. Her dedication and resilience were unmatched, and her contributions will be remembered by all who had the privilege of working alongside her.
Jody's faith was an integral part of her life. She was a dedicated member of the Del Paso Church of God, having recently returned after attending Zion Lutheran Church for a decade. Her spiritual journey was a guiding light, enriching her life and the lives of those around her.
A fervent sports enthusiast, Jody was a devoted fan of the San Francisco Giants. Her passion for sports was rivaled only by her infectious laugh and radiant smile. Jody's ability to find joy in every moment and her desire to spread happiness will be deeply missed by her family, extended family of uncles, aunts, cousins, and countless friends.
The family of Jody Sizer extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has shared in this Celebration of Life and expressed their love and support during this difficult time. A service to honor Jody's remarkable life will be held on August 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Del Paso Church of God, located at 4039 Balsam St., Sacramento, CA 95838.
