It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jodie Christine Peterson, a beloved wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, daughter, and friend. Born on July 18, 1975, in the quiet town of Fairfax, Missouri, Jodie departed this life peacefully at home on March 22, 2026, after a valiant battle with cancer. Her enduring strength and spirit were a testament to the joyful, funny, and loving nature that defined her life. Jodie was the cherished daughter of Linda Matheny and the devoted life partner of Matthew Jerome, with whom she shared an incredible journey of 30 years. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Jodie was a graduate of Burlington Junction High School and spent her professional life working diligently as a warehouse and factory worker. Her commitment and work ethic were admired by all who had the pleasure of working alongside her. Jodie's passions were as vibrant as her personality. She found great joy in the tranquility of fishing and cherished the majestic beauty of the mountains. Her love for bingo was surpassed only by her devotion to her family and her delight in spending time with her beloved grandchildren. One of Jodie's unique joys was rehabilitating squirrels, a testament to her nurturing and caring spirit. Her legacy continues through her loving family, including her treasured grandchildren, who will forever hold dear the memories of their time with her. Jodie's life was a tapestry woven with laughter, love, and the kind of joy that touched everyone she met. A celebration of Jodie's life will be held on April 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the West Nodaway High School Gymnasium, located at 17665 U.S. Highway 136, Burlington Junction, MO 64428. Family and friends are invited to honor Jodie's remarkable life and bid farewell to a woman who brought light and laughter to all who knew her. The family wishes to extend a special message to all who knew Jodie: "We will love and miss you forever." Her indomitable spirit and boundless love will remain in our hearts, guiding us through the days to come. Rest in peace, dear Jodie, knowing you have left an indelible mark on the lives of those fortunate enough to have known you. You will forever be loved, remembered, and missed.
