It is with both heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Joanne Switzer, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who left this world on June 14, 2026, at the age of 91. Joanne passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and cherished memories. Born on November 3, 1934, in Langdon, North Dakota, Joanne was the cherished daughter of Annie and Lawrence Stensland. She grew up alongside her siblings, Roger, Leroy, and Marlene, in a household filled with love and learning. Joanne graduated from Fairdale High School in 1952, where she not only excelled academically but also made lifelong friendships. On June 2, 1953, Joanne married the love of her life, Fred Switzer. Together, they built a beautiful family and shared decades of laughter and love until Fred's passing. Joanne was a devoted wife and mother, a role she cherished and embraced with all her heart. Her children, Steven, Kevin, Rod, and Janet, were the center of her world, and she devoted herself to them with boundless love and dedication. A gifted seamstress, Joanne transformed her home into a haven of comfort and beauty. Her talent with a needle and thread was unparalleled, earning her numerous blue ribbons at the Minnesota State Fair. Her creations were not just garments; they were expressions of love and care, meticulously crafted for those she held dear. Joanne's warmth and infectious laughter were truly her trademarks. She had a remarkable ability to brighten any room she entered, always in a good mood and ready to share a smile. Her zest for life was evident in her many hobbies, from sewing and baking delicious cookies to dancing and entertaining. She loved shopping, decorating her home, and particularly enjoyed the camaraderie and competition of the golf course, where she amazed everyone by achieving a hole-in-one not once, but twice. A devoted member of various Lutheran churches throughout her life, Joanne's faith was a cornerstone of her character. She found solace and community within the church, where she gave back in countless ways, offering her time and talents to those in need. Joanne is predeceased by her beloved parents, Annie and Lawrence, her dear brother Roger, and her cherished husband Fred. She is survived by her loving children, Steven, Kevin, Rod, and Janet, her brother Leroy, sister Marlene, her eight grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life. A celebration of Joanne's life will be held on June 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Riley Crossing Chapel, located at 620 Aldrich Drive, Chanhassen, MN 55317. Family and friends are invited to gather and share in the memory of a woman whose kindness touched so many. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Joanne's name to a charity of your choice, reflecting her spirit of generosity and love for helping others. Joanne Switzer's legacy lives on in the hearts of those who were privileged to know her. She leaves behind a tapestry of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will be treasured for generations to come.
