Joanne Marie Zednik

June 8, 1959 — June 20, 2026

In loving memory of Joanne Marie Zednik, a remarkable woman who graced the world with her presence from June 8, 1959, until her peaceful passing on June 20, 2026. Joanne left this earth in the same manner she lived—quietly and surrounded by love, passing away in her sleep at her cherished home. Born in Waukegan, Illinois, Joanne was the beloved daughter of Christine Lou and Richard Gillespie. Her early years were filled with the warmth of family and the values instilled by her parents, both of whom she has now joined in eternal rest, along with her dearly missed grandparents. Joanne's life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and creativity. She spent 45 beautiful years alongside her devoted husband, Brad Zednik, with whom she shared a partnership that was an inspiring example of commitment and understanding. Together, they built a family rooted in love and shared experiences, raising three wonderful children: their son, Nicholas Zednik, and their daughters, Valerie Gillespie and Jessica Rairie. Joanne's legacy extends through her three grandchildren and one great-grandchild, each of whom brought immense joy to her life. She was a beacon of strength and warmth, whose love knew no bounds. Known for her fun-loving spirit, independence, and tenacity, Joanne was a woman who faced life's challenges head-on with bravery and an unwavering spirit. Her generous heart was most evident in her passion for crafting. From crocheting intricate patterns to designing heartfelt Christmas cards, Joanne found immense joy in creating gifts for those she loved. Her creativity was a testament to her character—always planning ahead with others in mind, her spirit of giving was unmatched. She loved family gatherings and cookouts, as well as visiting family afar when able. Before her health deteriorated, she enjoyed motorcycle trips across country with her partner Brad Zednik; from New York, to Washington & Canada, she enjoyed the journey. She loved her Labradores, and Harley misses her dearly. Joanne's journey was further enriched by the enduring friendships she maintained since childhood and the bonds she cherished with her siblings. Her ability to live for others, even while concealing her own suffering, defined her as a true fighter with a fiery spirit that never dimmed. A service to honor Joanne's extraordinary life will be held on June 29, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Family and friends will gather to celebrate the woman who, taken too soon, left behind a legacy of love and compassion. Though her struggle has ended, Joanne will forever be loved, honored, and remembered for her indomitable spirit and ceaseless generosity. To Joanne's family, we extend our heartfelt condolences. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will endure in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
