In Loving Memory
Joanna Russell
October 21, 1991 — March 4, 2026
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Joanna, who left this world peacefully in her sleep on March 3, 2026, at the age of 34. Born on October 21, 1991, in Santa Clara, California, Joanna was a beacon of light and warmth to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her departure due to a ruptured aneurysm reminds us of the fragile beauty of life and the precious moments we share with our loved ones.
Joanna was the cherished daughter of Jaynie and the late Paul, and the much-loved sister to Angel, Shantell, and Heather. She was preceded in death by her father, her older brother, her paternal grandparents, her great-grandparents, and her maternal grandfather. Her legacy of love and compassion continues through her devoted husband, Jameel, and their blended family of two sons and three stepchildren, alongside countless nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who adored her.
Joanna and Jameel's love story spanned nine beautiful years, with 2.5 of those years as a married couple. Together, they built a warm and loving home, where Joanna embraced Jameel’s three children as her own, nurturing them with the same unconditional love she gave her two sons. Her dedication to her family was unwavering, and she found joy in every moment spent with them, whether it was tending to a scraped knee or celebrating their accomplishments.
In her professional life, Joanna dedicated over 15 years to the field of customer service, where her genuine kindness and ability to connect with others set her apart. Whether in sales or call centers, she was renowned for her commitment to helping others, always greeting everyone with a smile and a kind word. Her colleagues and clients alike were touched by her willingness to go above and beyond, earning her numerous accolades and lifelong friendships.
Beyond her professional achievements, Joanna was a woman of many passions. Her greatest joy came from creating cherished memories with her children, whether through adventurous outings to parks, skating rinks, waterparks, or zoos. She delighted in the simplicity of home movie nights and family game nights, always ensuring her home was filled with laughter and love. An avid reader, Joanna would often find solace and joy in the pages of a good book during her rare moments of solitude.
Joanna was a woman of remarkable character, defined by her sassy wit, intelligence, humor, and boundless compassion. Her presence could light up any room, and she had an extraordinary gift for making others feel valued and heard. Even during her own struggles, she consistently offered a smile, a kind word, or a listening ear. Joanna embodied the essence of kindness and love, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all she encountered.
A private funeral service will be held to honor Joanna’s life, as her family seeks solace and privacy during this difficult time. They extend their heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their compassion and understanding. Those wishing to offer support to Joanna’s family and children may reach out directly to the family.
Joanna will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the love and memories she leaves behind. She taught us all that even in a world that can feel cold, love, kindness, and compassion can shine the brightest.
Rest in peace, dear Joanna. Your light will forever guide us.
