It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of JoAnna Castleberry Wilson, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted friend. JoAnna passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on April 25, 1946, in Atlanta, Texas, she was the beloved daughter of the late Jimmie Castleberry and Easter Palmer.
JoAnna's life was a testament to love, resilience, and unwavering dedication to those she held dear. Her journey led her from the small town of Atlanta to the bustling city of Los Angeles, California, where she built both her career and her legacy. She devoted many years of her life to serving the community as a diligent and compassionate member of the staff at Los Angeles County General Hospital. Her work there touched countless lives and left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Family was at the heart of everything JoAnna did. She was predeceased by her beloved parents, Jimmie Castleberry and Easter Palmer, as well as her brother, Jimmie Castleberry Jr., and her cherished partners, Victor Williams and Herman Wilson. Despite these losses, she remained a pillar of strength and warmth for her surviving family members, including her two devoted daughters, Regenia Wilson (Eddie Marshall) and Rosel Elaine Wilson. JoAnna was the proud grandmother of four grandchildren and the adoring great-grandmother to four more, each of whom brought immense joy and pride to her life.
JoAnna's legacy is one of love, kindness, and an unwavering dedication to her family and community. Her gentle spirit, infectious laughter, and generous heart will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A celebration of JoAnna's life will be held on April 17, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Beulah Baptist Church, located at 1454 E. 100th Street, Los Angeles, CA. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor her memory and share in the warmth and love she so freely gave throughout her life.
As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we hold tight to the memories of her grace and strength. Though we mourn her passing, we find comfort in knowing that JoAnna's spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched. Her legacy will continue to inspire us to lead lives of compassion and love, just as she did.
