It is with profound sadness and heartfelt gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of JoAnna Castleberry Wilson on March 21, 2026. JoAnna, affectionately known as Jo, departed this world surrounded by love and grace at the age of 79. Born on April 25, 1946, in the quaint town of Atlanta, Texas, Jo embraced life with a vibrant spirit, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those privileged to know her. Jo was the cherished daughter of Jimmie Castleberry and Easter Palmer, who preceded her in death, along with her first husband, Victor Williams, her second husband, Hermon Wilson, and her beloved brother, Jimmie Castleberry. Despite these profound losses, Jo's strength and resilience were a testament to her unwavering faith and the love she held for her surviving family. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her siblings, Obie Castleberry, Hazel Castleberry, Betty Castleberry, Mary Nicholson, and Sheryl Farmer. Her devoted daughters, Regenia Wilson (Eddie) and Rosel Elaine Wilson, continue to embody her spirit and compassion. The light of Jo's life was further magnified through the joy of her grandchildren, Kia, Dominique, Dion, and Asha, and her four great-grandchildren, who she adored beyond measure. Her extended family of many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends will forever cherish the warmth of her smile and the kindness she imparted. Jo's life was a tapestry of dedication and service. A woman of intellect and empathy, she attained numerous educational milestones, including a Master’s degree in Nursing. Her professional journey was marked by her work at General Hospital, where she was not only a caregiver but a source of comfort and hope to countless patients and colleagues. Jo’s true calling, however, was her role as an ordained minister, a vocation she held closest to her heart. Her ministry was a beacon of guidance and solace, offering spiritual nourishment to all who sought her counsel. A celebration of Jo's extraordinary life will be held on April 17, 2026, at 1:00 PM, at Beulah Baptist Church, located at 1454 E 100th Street, Los Angeles, CA. Family, friends, and all those whose lives Jo touched are invited to gather in her honor, to share stories, shed tears, and find comfort in the shared love she cultivated throughout her life. As we remember JoAnna Castleberry Wilson, we are reminded of the profound impact one life can have. Her legacy is one of love, faith, and unwavering kindness. Although our hearts ache with the void her absence leaves, we find solace in knowing that her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she loved and in the lives she touched. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Jo's memory to a charity close to her heart, continuing her legacy of compassion and service to others.
