It is with heavy hearts but cherished memories that we announce the peaceful passing of JoAnn Thigpyn, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, on March 10, 2026, at the age of 87. JoAnn departed this world as she lived her life—surrounded by love and the comforts of home. JoAnn was born on August 22, 1938, in Nash, Texas, to Rafe and Ruby Jackson. From a young age, JoAnn exhibited a warmth and kindness that would become her hallmark. She grew up alongside her siblings, forming bonds that would last a lifetime. Though she was predeceased by her parents, husband, sisters, brothers, and a grandchild, JoAnn's legacy continues through the lives she touched. In 1978, JoAnn married the love of her life, John Thigpyn, and together, they built a life filled with love and devotion. JoAnn was the cherished mother to children who survive her and carry forward her teachings and values. Her nurturing spirit lives on in her six grandchildren, whom she adored and who brought her immeasurable joy. JoAnn's journey through life was one guided by faith and community. She graduated from Turner High School, a place where her lifelong love for learning and growth began. Her career spanned several respected institutions, including Republic Bank, Oaktree Mortgage, and Citigroup, before she dedicated her time to private duty. In each role, she was known not only for her diligence and professionalism but for her kindness and genuine care for those around her. A woman of deep faith, JoAnn was the First Lady to multiple churches, making significant contributions to the congregations of True Believers Baptist Church, Paradise, New Life, and New Direction. Her unwavering dedication to her church community was a testament to her love for God and her commitment to serving others. JoAnn had a flair for beauty and creativity, whether it was through interior decorating, crafting exquisite flower arrangements, or tending to her garden. Her home was always a reflection of her artistic eye and her heartfelt attention to detail. She found great joy in cooking, often bringing family and friends together to share in her delicious meals—a testament to her belief in the importance of family gatherings and shared moments. Those who knew JoAnn will remember her for her boundless love, her gentle spirit, and her unwavering faith. She was a beacon of light and love, offering comfort and wisdom to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy is one of grace, compassion, and an unshakeable belief in the power of love and family. As we celebrate JoAnn's life, we are reminded of the many lives she touched and the indelible mark she leaves behind. She will be dearly missed but forever cherished in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her. A memorial service to honor JoAnn's life will be held at a later date at True Believers Baptist Church, where we will gather to celebrate her life and the joy she brought to so many. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in JoAnn's memory to her beloved church or a charity of your choice, spreading the love and kindness that she so generously shared throughout her life. May JoAnn Thigpyn rest in eternal peace, her spirit forever guiding and inspiring us.
