JoAnn Slaughter McGinnis, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026, at the age of 76. Born on September 10, 1949, in the charming town of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, JoAnn was the cherished daughter of the late David and Dorothy Slaughter. JoAnn's life was a testament to love, resilience, and dedication. She built a warm, welcoming home filled with laughter and unconditional support. Her generosity and kindness left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She was the devoted wife of Roy Douglas McGinnis, with whom she shared many years of love and companionship. JoAnn's family was her pride and joy. She is survived by her loving children: her son, Bobby Scott Latham and his wife Phyllis of Franklin, and her daughter, Todd Morris and her wife ReGina of Hopkinsville. JoAnn also opened her heart and home to her step-children, Mike McGinnis of Tennessee Ridge, Tennessee, and Kerry Powell and her wife Kathy of Erin, Tennessee. Her legacy lives on through her 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, who brought endless joy and light to her life. JoAnn also leaves behind her sister, Judy Baker of Russellville, who shared many cherished memories with her. JoAnn is preceded in death by her son Barry Joe Latham, her step-son Jerry McGinnis, her brother, David Slaughter, and her sister, Dorothy Groves. Their memories will forever be held close in the hearts of those who loved them. JoAnn’s presence brightened family gatherings, where her warmth and infectious smile were always the center of every celebration. Her nurturing spirit and dedication to her family will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her. In accordance with her wishes, a private ceremony will be held to honor JoAnn's life. Her family invites those who knew her to celebrate her memory in their own meaningful ways. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in JoAnn's memory to a charity of choice, reflecting her generous and giving nature. JoAnn Slaughter McGinnis will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she so freely gave.
