Joann Jeffries Davis

April 24, 1938 — September 22, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joann Jeffries Davis, who left this world on September 22, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on April 24, 1938, in Alamance County, Joann was a beacon of love and warmth to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Joann was the cherished daughter of the late Bennie Lee Jeffries and Millie Pat Jeffries. She was preceded in death by her beloved siblings: sisters Ida Anita Jeffries Enoch (Monroe), Poinciana Jeffries Hall, Nancy Jean Jeffries Whitmore (Clyde), Jessie M. Jeffries Graves (Preston), and brother Edgar Reese Jeffries (Fleta). Despite these losses, Joann's spirit remained unbroken, and she continued to be a source of strength and comfort to her family and friends. She is survived by her devoted husband, Larry W. Davis, and her loving children, Dwight Cobb and Eli (Chris) Cobb. Joann was also a proud grandmother to her treasured granddaughter, Arielle Williams. Her special niece, Carmelita Gilliam, and sister-in-law, Jacqueline Davis Battle, will forever hold Joann in their hearts. Joann's educational journey began at Jordan Sellars High School in Burlington, NC, and continued at NC A&T College in Greensboro, NC. It was here that she formed lifelong friendships and strengthened the foundation of her faith and community involvement. Joann's commitment to her faith was evident through her active membership at Martin's Chapel Baptist Church, where she joyfully participated in the choir and various church auxiliaries. Throughout her life, Joann was a tapestry of grace and kindness, weaving her love and devotion into the lives of all she encountered. Her relationship with God and her church family was central to her life, and she cherished every moment spent in fellowship and worship. A celebration of Joann's life will be held on September 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Groce Memorial Funeral Home, located at 800 S. Main Street, Graham, NC 27253. The family will be present for visitation from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon, creating a space for shared memories and support. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, in honor of Joann's giving spirit and her enduring legacy of love and compassion. Though Joann is no longer with us, her spirit will continue to inspire and guide those she loved. We celebrate a life well-lived and a love that endures beyond this world.
