It is with heavy hearts yet profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Joann Foreman on April 20, 2026, at the age of 101. Born on July 7, 1924, in the charming town of Elizabeth City, NC, Joann was a beacon of light and love to all who knew her. She was the cherished daughter of Mattie and Joseph Pinner, who instilled in her the values of kindness, empathy, and resilience. Joann's journey through life was marked by education, service, and unwavering dedication to family and community. She graduated from Elizabeth City High School and went on to earn her college degree, a testament to her commitment to personal growth and learning. With a heart full of compassion, she dedicated her career to serving others as a social worker for the Department of Economic Security (DEC), where her positive attitude and unyielding optimism left an indelible mark on countless lives. In XXXX, Joann married the love of her life, Rodney Foreman. Together they built a beautiful life, blessed with three wonderful children: Hunter (married to Greg), Creig (married to Karen), and Kirk (married to Kathie). Joann and Rodney shared a passion for travel and cherished their time spent at the Outer Banks, where they created treasured memories filled with laughter and love. Rodney predeceased Joann, yet their shared legacy of love continues to blossom through their family. Joann's life was enriched by the love of her five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of her life. Her home was a warm sanctuary where family gatherings were frequent, and her hospitality was legendary. Joann found immense joy in hosting, reading, sailing, and spending time at the beach, where the sound of the waves mirrored the rhythm of her gentle spirit. A devoted member of the Christ Episcopal Church and an active participant in the local Bridge club, Joann's presence was a source of comfort and inspiration to her community. Her faith and fellowship were cornerstones of her life, guiding her through the joys and challenges of her journey. Joann was preceded in death by her beloved husband Rodney, her sister Catherine Pinner, and her brother. Her legacy of love, resilience, and kindness lives on in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who will continue to honor her memory and celebrate her beautiful life. A service to honor and celebrate Joann's life will be held on May 1, 2026, at Christ Episcopal Church, where family and friends will gather to pay tribute to a life that touched so many. The Foreman family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Elizabeth City Health and Rehab, Brookdale Assisted Living Facility, and Hospice Care for their compassionate attention and unwavering support during Joann's final days. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Christ Episcopal Church or a charity of choice, in honor of Joann's life and her commitment to helping others. Joann Foreman will forever be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her legacy of love, optimism, and service will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her. May her gentle soul rest in eternal peace.
