Joan T. Uniatowski

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joan T. Uniatowski, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted friend, who left this world peacefully on October 23, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on August 26, 1936, in Cleveland, Ohio, Joan was the beloved daughter of Walenty and Helena Malinowski. Joan's life was filled with love and dedication to her family and her work. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph J. Uniatowski, with whom she shared a life of love and companionship. She is also predeceased by her infant brother John, her brother Edmund and his wife Helen, her daughter Janice Laba and son-in-law Philip, her daughter-in-law Jamie Uniatowski, and her sisters Sister M. Virginella SSJ-TOSF and Sister Bernice Therese SSJ-TOSF. Joan's legacy endures through her surviving children, Joseph and the late Jamie, Joanne, and Jeffrey and his wife Martine. She was a proud and loving grandmother to six grandchildren and a great-grandmother to three great-grandchildren. Her family was the center of her world, and she treasured every moment spent with them. Her warmth and kindness extended beyond her immediate family, as she was a beloved aunt, great-aunt, and cousin to her family in Poland. A compassionate caregiver, Joan dedicated much of her life to serving others as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Marymount Hospital in Garfield Heights. Her gentle nature and caring spirit made her a source of comfort and strength to her patients and colleagues alike. Joan had a profound love for her family, which was evident in her every action and word. Her home was a haven of warmth, laughter, and love, where all were welcome, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in honor of Joan's life on October 31, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Therese Catholic Church, located at 5276 E. 105th St, Cleveland, OH 44125. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Joan are invited to attend and honor her remarkable life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Joan's memory to the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, a place that held special significance in her life. Joan T. Uniatowski's life was a testament to the power of love, compassion, and family. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her beloved Joseph and the family who have gone before her.
