Joan Reaves Obituary Joan Reaves, a remarkable woman who graced the world with her warmth and generosity, passed away on May 15, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on April 25, 1936, in the quaint town of New Castle, Felling & Tyne, England, Joan was the beloved daughter of Sidney and Edna Green. Her early life was enriched by the close-knit community of her birthplace, a spirit she carried with her throughout her life. Joan was a devoted wife to Msgt. A loving mother, Joan is survived by her children: Patricia Ann Reaves-Roorda and her husband Joey, Deborah Lynne Reaves and her husband Alvin, and Sr Msgt. Paul Wayne Reaves and his wife Rachel. She was the cherished grandmother to Jeffery Curtis and his wife Amy, Courtney Bystrom and her husband Brandon, Cody Reaves and his wife Cynthia, Lacie Roorda and her husband Ed, McKenna Reaves, and Quinn Reaves. Joan also leaves behind her great-granddaughter, Bella, who brought immense joy to her later years. Joan's life was a testament to service and community. She dedicated over two decades to supporting her family as a military wife and contributed her time to volunteering at the Salvation Army. Joan's professional journey included a decade at TG&y, followed by another at Ross Dress for Less, where she made lasting friendships before retiring. Her commitment to community service extended through her role in the British Wives Club, where she and her friends organized charitable events marked by laughter and camaraderie. Her friends, Patricia Stratton and Eileen Fell, along with many others, will fondly remember the laughter-filled gatherings where Joan’s infectious smile was ever-present. Known for her inability to spell but unmatched ability to knit love into each stitch, Joan was a beacon of kindness, offering warmth and a helping hand to all who needed it. Beyond her family and friends, Joan is survived by her extended family, including Adeline Scott and family, and John and Kimberly Green and family, who cherished her deeply. She was predeceased by her husband Horace, her parents, her brother John Green, and her sister Ethel Green. Joan's passing, attributed to a broken heart, is a poignant reminder of her deep capacity for love. Her family believes that her longing for her late husband and sister was a testament to the profound connections she cherished throughout her life.
