Joan Marie Hartnett

August 28, 1960 — August 19, 2026

Joan Marie Hartnett, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully departed this world on August 19, 2026, just shy of her 66th birthday. Born on August 28, 1960, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Joan was a beacon of strength, resilience, and love throughout her life. Joan was the cherished daughter of the late James Albert Hartnett Sr. and Dorthy Mae Hartnett. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother John Francis Hartnett, and her precious granddaughter, Aura Renee Hartnett. Despite these significant losses, Joan's spirit remained indomitable, and her love for her family only deepened. A proud alumna of Little Flower Girls High School, Joan chose to serve her country by joining the Air Force at the age of 18. Her time in the military was a testament to her unwavering courage and dedication—a true soldier at heart. Family was the cornerstone of Joan's life. As a single mother, she dedicated her life to her children, daughter Danielle Renee Hartnett and son Michael Justin Hartnett, nurturing them with unconditional love and support. Her legacy of warmth and kindness extends to her grandchildren—Cianna Renee Hartnett, Kiylee Marie Hartnett, Milani Marie Hartnett, and Michael Justin Hartnett Jr.—as well as her great-grandchildren, CHOZE’N KING JAMES HARTNETT and AURA RENEE HARTNETT. Her role as a grandmother was one she cherished deeply, spending countless joyful moments with her beloved "grandbabies." Joan's siblings—Joyce Lowise Hartnett, James Albert Hartnett Jr., Joseph Michael Hartnett, and Judith Marie Hartnett—held a special place in her heart. Her family was her world, and she was their guiding light, always ensuring their well-being with her nurturing spirit. Joan was a woman of many talents and interests. She found immense joy in cooking for her family and solving crossword puzzles. Her laughter filled the room during comedy movie nights, and her strong work ethic shone brightly in her professional endeavors. In every room she entered, Joan was a star. Her presence was a blend of grace and fierceness, a testament to her strength and vibrant energy. She was a fighter, a soldier, and above all, a fiercely loving matriarch. The family expresses their gratitude for all that Joan has done, remembering her as the heart and soul of their loving family. A special message from the family reads: "Joan Marie, a real soldier, your beautiful endless energy and presence will be missed and loved. I promise to protect my son, my sister, and my two cousins and make sure they are okay - Tiny. We appreciate everything you’ve done for this family, and the time, energy, and all you’ve put into making us a loving family." Joan Marie Hartnett's legacy of love, strength, and dedication will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
