January 25, 1955 — May 30, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joan Marie Beccard, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Joan gracefully departed this world on May 30, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's, surrounded by her loving family. She was 71 years old. Joan was born on January 25, 1955, in the charming town of Fremont, Nebraska, to Joseph and Rosemary Tines. She was the eldest of six siblings, and from a young age, she exhibited a nurturing spirit and a keen intellect. Her early years were filled with love and laughter, growing up alongside her brothers and sisters: Stephen (Susan) Tines, Janelle (Francis J.R.) Gubbels, Janet (Steve) Ciesielski, Joyce (Tony) Coyler, and Patrick (Mary) Tines. In 1973, Joan graduated from Fremont Bergan High School, where she was known for her academic excellence and her kind heart. Her passion for helping others led her to pursue a career in pharmacy, earning her doctorate degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 1979. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Louis (Lou) Beccard. The two married on September 22, 1979, embarking on a beautiful journey together that would span nearly five decades. Joan's professional career began at Beatrice Community Hospital, a step she took to be closer to Lou's employment in Fairbury. Her dedication to her craft was evident as she briefly worked at Korbal Drug in Fairbury before the couple moved to Tecumseh in 1981. There, Joan found her true calling at Chief Drug, and later, in 1983, she joined St. Mary's Hospital, where she worked until her retirement in 2019. Joan was deeply passionate about her role as a hospital pharmacist, always seeking the challenges and rewards that came with helping those in need. Joan's life was a testament to love and devotion. She is survived by her cherished husband, Louis Beccard, and their two sons, Ryan (Ann) Beccard and Matthew (Emily) Beccard. Joan's legacy continues through her eight adored grandchildren: Hayden, Nolan, Damian, Brendan, Lauren, Beau, Olivia, and Genevieve, who brought immeasurable joy to her life. Joan was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Rosemary Tines, her parents-in-law, Floyd and Irene Beccard, and her brother-in-law, Melvin Beccard. While the family mourns her loss, they take solace in the joyful reunions being held in the afterlife. A service to celebrate Joan's remarkable life will be held on May 20, 2026, at St. Joseph's Church, located at 5598 O Rd. Friends and family are invited to gather in honor of a woman whose life was a beacon of love, wisdom, and unwavering kindness. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Joan's memory to the Alzheimer's Association, supporting the ongoing fight against a disease that has affected so many lives. Joan M. Beccard will be remembered for her compassionate spirit, her unwavering dedication to her family and profession, and her ability to touch the hearts of everyone she met. Her legacy will live on in the countless lives she enriched and the love she shared with the world. Rest in peace, dear Joan, knowing you are deeply loved and profoundly missed.
