It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Joan Lester Waters. Born on September 16, 1959, in the sunny town of Clearwater, Florida, Joan departed this world on April 9, 2026, at the age of 66. She passed peacefully at home, cradled in the love and warmth of her family, as she had always wished. Joan was the cherished daughter of Willard and Willaine Lester, who preceded her in death and with whom she has now found eternal rest. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Michael Waters, with whom she shared many treasured years. Joan is survived by her devoted daughter, Jennifer Church, who was the light of her life. She also leaves behind her two adored grandsons, Jacob Waters and Aaron Watts, who brought immeasurable joy to her days. Joan relished her role as a grandmother, finding pure happiness in spending time with her grandsons, sharing in their laughter, and guiding them with her wisdom. A lover of the great outdoors, Joan was most at peace near the water with a fishing rod in hand. She was an avid fisherman and could often be found embracing the tranquility of nature’s embrace. Her love for the outdoors was surpassed only by her love for her family, who she cherished deeply. Joan was known for her infectious smile and her ability to light up any room she entered. Her quirky sense of humor and quick wit endeared her to all who knew her. She had a unique way of making everyone feel valued and loved, and her ability to crack a joke in any situation will be fondly remembered by all. In accordance with her wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Joan’s life and legacy. As her family gathers to say their goodbyes, they extend their deepest gratitude to everyone who stood by Joan’s side in her final years, offering love, support, and companionship. The family wishes to thank everyone who was by her side in her last few years and to always remember her for who she was—a vibrant, loving soul who brought joy to all she met. Joan’s memory will forever be etched in the hearts of her family and friends. Her laughter, love, and light will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. As we bid farewell to a remarkable woman, we celebrate the beautiful life she led and the indelible mark she leaves on the world. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to local outdoor conservation efforts, ensuring that Joan’s love for nature and the outdoors can be shared and preserved for generations to come.
