Joan Lawrence

Joan A. Lawrence, passed away peacefully at her home on August 13, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 26, 1937, in Liberty Township, Pennsylvania, Joan was the daughter of Gordon and Esther Wilber. Joan was predeceased by her husband: Edwin G Lawrence, her parents: Gordon and Esther Wilber, her siblings: Carolyn Eiklor, Wayne (Alfred) Wilber, and Alton Wilber. She is survived by her children: Cindy Owens, Julie Hunter, Jill Warner, Ronald Lawrence, and Amy Lawrence. Joan was also blessed with 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Her life was full of diversity; she was a co-farmer alongside her family, a skillful typesetter at the Montrose Independent Newspaper, an associate at Walmart, and later, a New York Correctional Horticulture Instructor. In each role, Joan brought her unwavering commitment, leaving a lasting impact on those she worked with and mentored. Her heart, however, was most at home in her garden, where she found peace and joy among the blooms and greenery she tended. Joan's hands were rarely still, whether she was knitting gifts for her loved ones, losing herself in the pages of a good book, or caring for her many cherished animals. Her love for animals was profound, and they provided her with endless comfort and companionship. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Joan's compassionate caregivers for their patience and kindness during her time of need. Their support made an indelible difference in Joan's journey, for which her family is eternally thankful. To honor her explicit wishes, there will be no funeral service. Instead, her family asks that you celebrate her memory privately in your own special way."
