July 24, 1941 - May 25, 2026
It is with heavy hearts yet fond memories that we announce the peaceful passing of Joan Feger on May 25, 2026, in the warmth of her daughter’s embrace. A native of Louisville, Kentucky, Joan was born on July 24, 1941, to Shirley and Margaret Renolds. Her life, filled with laughter and love, touched the hearts of many and leaves a legacy of joy and cherished memories.
Joan was a devoted wife to her beloved Milton Feger, with whom she shared a deep and enduring love. They married on August 31, 1961, and built a beautiful life together in Louisville. Joan celebrated her role as a mother when they welcomed their only child, Diane, in 1963. As a family, they enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, creating countless memories that her loved ones hold dear.
A graduate of Eastern High School, Joan was known for her keen sense of humor and her ability to light up a room with her infectious laughter. She worked tirelessly for many years at Grants Department Store before transitioning to a role as a bookkeeper at Shively Sporting Goods. Her colleagues remember her not only for her dedication and skill but also for her remarkable ability to bring cheer to the workplace.
Joan was a woman of many passions. She loved nothing more than spending time at the beach, where she would collect shells and bask in the tranquility of the sea. Her grandchildren, Tyler and Blake Simpson, were the light of her life, and she adored every moment spent with them, whether playing on the shore or sharing stories of her youth. Her great-grandson, Connor, brought her immense joy and was a testament to the enduring family legacy she so deeply cherished.
Above all, Joan was known for her zest for life and her remarkable ability to bring laughter to those around her. Whether through a well-timed joke or a warm smile, she had a gift for lifting spirits, a gift that will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Joan was predeceased by her loving husband, Milton, and her parents, Shirley and Margaret Reynolds. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Diane Simpson, her son-in-law Don Simpson, her grandchildren, Tyler and Blake Simpson, and her great-grandson, Connor Simpson. Her family finds solace in knowing that Joan's spirit will live on through the many lives she touched.
A private service to celebrate Joan’s life will be held on June 24, 2026, at 12:00 PM at the Cave Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Joan's memory to a dementia research foundation of your choice, as a tribute to her courageous battle and the love she shared with those around her.
