Joan Cochrane Hansen
April 5, 1957 — June 1, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of our beloved Joan Cochrane Hansen, who departed this life peacefully on June 1, 2026, after a life marked by courage and grace. Born on April 5, 1957, in the vibrant city of Belfast, Ireland, Joan was the cherished daughter of James and Sarah Jane Cochrane. She was preceded in death by her parents, her older sister, her dear aunt, and her beloved grandson, Jayden James.
Joan's life was a testament to love, resilience, and the joy of family. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth and compassion, carried on by her surviving family: her cherished children Jeffrey, Lisa Hansen, Corey and Heather Hansen, Bret with his family Martini and Charley, Mark with his children Taylor and Kenzie Hansen, and Emily with her family Bobby, Paisley, and Riley Devore. She was also a loving sister to Margaret and her children, Jim Cochrane with his family Linda and kids, and Lynn Anderson with family Mike and kids, as well as Mike and his family. Joan's life was further enriched by the laughter and love of her 10 treasured grandchildren.
Joan pursued her education at Salt Community College, where she graduated with a degree that paved the way for a fulfilling career. Her professional journey took her to Select Health and RC Willey, where she served with dedication and distinction. A devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Joan was a beacon of kindness and faith within her community.
Her hobbies and interests were as varied as they were meaningful. Joan had a passion for crochet, creating beautiful pieces that were often shared with loved ones. Her greatest joy, however, was spending time with her family, relishing in the fun times and creating memories that would last a lifetime. Known for her delectable baked treats, Joan found happiness in sharing the comforts of home with others. She was an avid reader and found solace in the pages of a good book, while also enjoying the light-hearted entertainment of Hallmark movies, the culinary inspiration of the Food Network, and the creative projects on HGTV.
Joan was renowned for her selflessness and willingness to help others. Whether offering sage advice or lending a hand, she was a steadfast friend and confidant, ever ready to support those she loved. Her gentle spirit and generous heart touched all who had the privilege of knowing her.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to those who wish to send cards, which can be directed to Corey P Hansen, 2267 W Bridle Way, Bluffdale, UT 84065. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests honoring Joan's memory with acts of kindness and generosity, embodying the love she so freely gave throughout her life.
Joan Cochrane Hansen's life was a testament to love, family, and faith. Her legacy will continue to inspire those who knew her, and she will be dearly missed by all. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
