Born on August 10, 1964, in the warm, close-knit community of Eudora, Arkansas, Jo's life was a testament to the power of kindness, resilience, and unwavering love. Jo was the beloved daughter of the late Albert Brown Jr. and Doris VanBuren Brown. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Eric Brown and Derrick VanBuren. Today, we find comfort in knowing that they are reunited once more, watching over us with love. A proud graduate of Eudora High School, Jo furthered her education at the Southeast College of Technology in Little Rock, Arkansas, where she earned her Associates Degree. Her commitment to learning was reflected throughout her life, not only in her professional pursuits but also in her personal growth and relationships. Jo began her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant, a role that perfectly suited her nurturing spirit and deep empathy for others. Later, she served the community as the head custodian at the Youth Detention Center in Dermott, Arkansas, where she was known for her unwavering dedication and kindness. Jo's work was more than just a job; it was an extension of her innate desire to care for, support, and uplift those around her. A lifelong member of New Zion Church, Jo's faith was a guiding force in her life. She was an active participant in her church community from a young age, finding joy and purpose in her service to others. Jo's love for the outdoors was evident in her favorite pastimes—fishing and yard work, where she found peace and joy. Above all, Jo treasured spending time with her family, cherishing every moment shared with them. Her quick wit and warm smile could light up any room, and her gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued was a hallmark of her character. Jo's kindness and generosity were boundless, touching countless lives and leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her. Jo is survived by her beloved child, Jon Bonet Brown, who was the pride and joy of her life. She also leaves behind her beloved siblings: Marion White, Anthony Brown, Gleanice Brown, Lavester Brown and his wife Ebony, Harold Brown, Nina Okpala and her husband Ike, and Coretta Johnson and her husband John. Jo's legacy of love and laughter also lives on in her many nieces, nephews, and friends, who will forever cherish the memories they shared with her. A celebration of Jo’s life will be held on May 30, 2026, at 12:00 PM at the Minister Institute, located at 1329 Front Street, Eudora, Arkansas. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone for the prayers, visits, calls, assistance, and acts of kindness and sympathy shown during this time. Your support is deeply appreciated as we remember and honor Jo's remarkable life.
