Jo Ann Reiley Briggs

Jo Ann Reiley Briggs, a devoted mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on November 29, 1939, in the small town of Mathis, Texas, Jo Ann was the beloved daughter of Marvin A. Reiley and Ruby Elizabeth Pettit. Her early years were shaped by the warmth and love of her family, and she carried these values throughout her life. Jo Ann was a proud graduate of Kenedy High School, class of 1958. It was there that she cultivated lifelong friendships and developed a passion for learning that she would pass on to her children and grandson. On June 30, 1962, Jo Ann married the love of her life, Norman F. Briggs, in a heartfelt ceremony in Beeville, Texas. Together, they built a life filled with love and companionship until Norman's passing on December 20, 2015. In 1976, Jo Ann and her family moved to Katy, Texas, where they became integral members of the community. She was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Katy, where her kindness and generosity touched many lives. Her faith was a guiding light, providing her with strength and comfort throughout her life. Jo Ann's family was her greatest joy. She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Pete Martin of Dickinson, Texas, and her devoted son, Brian Keith Briggs of The Woodlands, Texas. Jo Ann was also blessed with a wonderful grandson, Kenneth Charles Martin of Dickinson, Texas, who brought immense pride and happiness to her life. Her life partner, Russell Corcoran, provided steadfast support and companionship in her later years. Jo Ann is also survived by her sisters, Shirley Jeanes and Sharon Bary, and her brothers, Leonard Reiley, Dennis Reiley, Ronnie Reiley, and Stanley Reiley. Her family was her anchor, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin A. and Ruby Reiley, her husband Norman Briggs, and her brothers, Marvin G. Reiley and David Reiley. Jo Ann will be remembered for her warmth, her unwavering love for her family, and her generous spirit. She touched the lives of everyone she met, leaving a legacy of love and kindness that will endure for generations. A celebration of Jo Ann's life will be held on July 25, 2026, at 4:08 PM at the First Baptist Church Katy, located at 600 Pin Oak Road, Katy, TX 77494. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a remarkable woman who will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Jo Ann's memory to a charity of choice, as a tribute to her generous and compassionate nature.
