It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of Jo Ann Cannon, a cherished wife, devoted mother, beloved grandmother, and dear friend to many. Jo Ann departed this world peacefully on June 3, 2026, at the age of 74, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family in her hometown of Cambridge, Maryland, where her life's journey began on November 11, 1951. Jo Ann was the beloved daughter of the late Edward Oliver Pete and Martha Ann (Sharp) Pete, who provided her with a foundation of love and values that she carried throughout her life. She is reunited in eternal peace with her parents, her brother Edward Oliver Pete Jr. (fondly known as Bunk), and her sister Laurie Adele Pete, who predeceased her. On June 6, 1970, Jo Ann married her soulmate, Wesley Michael Cannon, embarking on a beautiful journey of love and partnership that spanned over five decades. Together, they built a family filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Jo Ann's legacy lives on through her husband, Wesley, who lovingly stood by her side through life's joys and challenges. Jo Ann was a nurturing and inspirational mother to her son, Wesley Michael Cannon Jr., and her daughter, Jan Lee Cannon. Her love and guidance shaped them into the wonderful individuals they are today. Her grandchildren, Josie Mae Cannon, Ayden Wesley Phillips, and Ava Coryn Bloodsworth, will forever remember their grandmother's warm hugs, wise words, and unwavering support. Her great-grandchildren, Landon Michael Cannon and Gracie Cannon, brought immense joy to Jo Ann's later years, filling her days with laughter and love. Throughout her life, Jo Ann touched the hearts of many with her kindness, generosity, and infectious spirit. She had an unparalleled ability to make those around her feel special and loved, qualities that endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love and compassion will be carried forward by her family and friends, who will strive to honor her memory by living with the same grace and warmth she exemplified. A celebration of Jo Ann's life will take place at the Wesleyan Church in Cambridge, Maryland, on June 27, 2026, at 2:00 PM. The family warmly invites all who knew and loved Jo to join them in sharing stories, memories, and paying tribute to a life well-lived. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their love, support, and prayers during this difficult time.
