Jimmy Lynn Tansil Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, peacefully departed this world on August 24, 2026, in Williamsburg, Virginia. Born on December 20, 1942, in Greenfield, Tennessee, Jimmy's life was a testament to love, dedication, and community service. The son of Tom and Teawilly Tansil, Jimmy was a man of remarkable character and warmth. He was predeceased by his dear sister, Mary Sue Bennett, and brothers, Thomas Tansil Sr. and James Lay Tansil. His legacy of love and resilience continues through his surviving sister, Betty T. O'Neal, his children, Jimmy Tansil Jr., Trina Tansil, Timothy Tansil, and ShaDonna Shaffer, and his cherished grandchildren, Drew Shaffer, Jasmine Shaffer, Phillip Tansil, Nina Tansil, and Maya Tansil. Jimmy shared 25 wonderful years of marriage with Mae Lenior, a union that blossomed into a family of four children and five grandchildren. His dedication to family was unparalleled, and he took immense pride in nurturing a close-knit and loving household. Education was a cornerstone of Jimmy's life. He earned his Bachelor's in Math and Education from Harris Stowe Teachers College and later a Master's in Education from St. Louis University. For 25 years, he inspired countless students as a math teacher in the St. Louis Public Schools, leaving an indelible mark on the community. In addition, his 25 years of service at National Foods store reflected his unwavering work ethic and commitment to excellence. A lifelong member of the St. Louis Church of Christ, Jimmy was deeply involved in its activities, including singing in the choir and volunteering to feed the community. His faith was a guiding light, and his giving heart knew no bounds. Jimmy was passionate about sports, enjoying slow-pitch softball and the camaraderie of watching games with friends and family. A devoted fan of the Cardinals, he cherished many spirited afternoons at Busch Stadium. Jimmy's life will be celebrated at a service on September 4, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the West Central Church of Christ, located at 4662 Delmar Blvd, St. Louis, Missouri, 63108. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to a preferred charity to honor Jimmy's memory and his lifelong commitment to helping others. As we remember Jimmy Lynn Tansil Sr., we celebrate a life filled with laughter, love, and generosity. His legacy will continue to inspire all who knew him, reminding us of the power of kindness and the strength of family bonds.
