Jimmy Lee Smith, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away on July 5, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on April 20, 1936, in Plainfield, Illinois, to Martha and Jerold Smith, Jimmy led a life characterized by dedication, love, and service to others until he was called home after a heart attack, surrounded by his cherished loved ones.
A proud servant of the community, Jimmy dedicated many years of his life as a Correctional Officer. His career was marked by honor, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to public safety. His colleagues remember him as a man of principle, always demonstrating a strong work ethic and a deep sense of responsibility.
Outside of his professional life, Jimmy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid fisherman, a sports enthusiast, and a master griller who loved hosting family gatherings. His stories were legendary, filled with warmth and wisdom, and he relished every moment spent with his family. To Jimmy, family was everything, and he took immense pride in being surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Predeceased by his children Natasha, Natayla, and Michael, as well as his grandchildren Destiny, Lyric, Jerrick, Jacara, Ciara, Caliyah, Nate, Jaylese, and Jamera, Jimmy was the last of his siblings. Despite these profound losses, his spirit remained resilient, and he continued to be a pillar of strength for those around him.
Jimmy was known for his kind heart and unwavering integrity. His compassion, wisdom, and quiet strength touched the lives of everyone who knew him. His generosity, loyalty, and genuine love for his family and friends left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and offered his support wherever it was needed.
As we gather to celebrate his life, we invite friends and family to join us on July 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Journey Church, located at 10700 75th Street, Kenosha, WI, to honor and remember the remarkable journey of Jimmy Lee Smith.

Heavenly Father,
We thank You for the precious gift of his life and for the love, wisdom, and kindness he shared with everyone who knew him. Though our hearts are filled with sorrow, we trust in Your promise of eternal life and find peace knowing he is resting in Your loving embrace.
Grant comfort and strength to our family and friends as we grieve this great loss. Help us to carry forward his legacy of compassion, integrity, and love in all that we do. May the memories we shared bring us peace, and may Your presence surround us with hope in the days ahead.
May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may perpetual light shine upon him. Until we are reunited again, keep him safe in Your heavenly kingdom.
In Jesus’ name we pray,
Amen.
