January 19, 1958 — September 25, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jimmy Lee, who left this earthly realm on September 23rd, 2026, after a courageous battle with an illness. Born on January 19, 1958, in the vibrant city of Chicago, Illinois, Jimmy was a beacon of strength, love, and wisdom to all who knew him. Jimmy was the beloved son of the late Jim Lee Sr. and Mamie Fisher, and the brother of the late William "Bill" Lee, Gloria Jean Lee, Gladys "Dy" Davis, Mariam Muhammad, and Melinda Lee. He is survived by his devoted siblings Arlene, Teresa, Daisy, John, Jesse, Lufia, and Cora, who will continue to cherish his memory. In 1976, Jimmy met the love of his life, June Royster, on the South Side of Chicago. Their paths diverged for a time but ultimately led them back together. They celebrated their union with marriage in 1988, sharing 35 beautiful years until June's untimely passing in 2023. Together, they built a loving family that includes their cherished children: Steven, Christopher, Adrian, Alexander, Justin, Donovan, Joakima, and Juneah. The legacy of Jimmy's love and wisdom continues through his adored grandchildren: Taliyah, Kyriel, Christopher Jr., Andrew, Alexander Jr., Kedasia, and Sannaya. Jimmy's educational journey began at Muhammad University in Chicago, where he graduated with his high school diploma in 1976. He went on to become a revered manager at Sayid's Grocery Store, a position he held with dedication until a tragic car accident changed the course of his career. Despite these challenges, Jimmy's resilience shone through as he embraced life with open arms and a heart full of gratitude. A steadfast believer in the Nation of Islam, Jimmy was a loyal follower of The Honorable Elijah Muhammad. His faith was a guiding force in his life, infusing him with Godly wisdom that he shared generously with everyone around him. Known for his charisma and infectious joy, Jimmy had an extraordinary ability to uplift the spirits of those in his presence. Jimmy's hands were seldom idle; he was an avid gardener and landscaper, relishing the time spent outdoors tending to his yard and home. His craftsmanship and handyman skills were unmatched, often leaving those around him in awe of his ability to transform a simple space into a sanctuary. A service to honor Jimmy's life will be held on October 9, 2026, at 11:00 PM at Gatlings Funeral Home, located at 10133 S. Halsted Street, Chicago, IL 60628. The family extends their deepest gratitude to Gatling Funeral Home for their support and to everyone who joins them in celebrating Jimmy's remarkable life. Jimmy Lee's life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and resilience. Though his physical presence is no longer with us, his spirit will continue to inspire and illuminate our lives. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
