Jimmie Roberson

Jimmie Roberson, 93, of Kansas City Missouri a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026. Jimmie will be dearly missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Born in the small town of Crystal Springs, Mississippi, on September 11, 1932, Jimmie was the oldest son of 9 children born to General L. Robinson and Cloteal Nelson. From a young age, he exhibited a deep sense of duty and a passion for education and service, qualities that would define his life.
In 1952, Jimmie proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving as a senior airman in Germany during the Korean War. His dedication and exemplary conduct earned him the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal, along with an honorable discharge in 1956.
After his military service, Jimmie pursued his passion for education, graduating from Alcorn State University with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 1963. His thirst for knowledge led him to further his studies, achieving a master's degree from Central Missouri State University. Jimmie devoted 33 years of his life to nurturing young minds as a special education teacher in the Kansas City School District, leaving an indelible mark on countless students.
While teaching at Brush Creek Elementary, Jimmie met the love of his life, Irma Lee Moses. They were united in marriage on November 2, 1963, at her home in Centerville on a Saturday afternoon. Together, they built a life filled with love, faith, and family.
Jimmie's life was a testament to the power of faith and community. A devoted member of One Spirit Methodist Church, he found joy in his faith and the friendships he formed within the congregation. As a member of the Southside Optimist Club and Omega Psi Phi, Jimmie embodied the spirit of camaraderie and service.
Jimmie was known for his unique style. He had a fondness for bow ties and Peaky Boston hats, a signature look that mirrored his sharp intellect and warm heart. An avid fan of basketball and baseball, he cherished moments spent with his family, treasuring every laugh and memory shared.
Jimmie's legacy is carried on by his son, Byron Roberson, and his wife, Stacy Roberson. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two brothers, and two sisters, all of whom will forever cherish his memory and the love he bestowed upon them.
Jimmie was predeceased by his parents; his devoted wife, Irma Roberson; his sons, Larry Moses and Keith Roberson; and two brothers and two sisters. Their spirits undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms.
A service to honor and celebrate Jimmie's remarkable life will be held on March 11, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at One Spirit Methodist Church, located at 7900 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, MO 64138. The re-pass to follow at 2:00 pm at 10240 Fontana Ln, Overland Park, Ks 66207. Family, friends, and all whose lives Jimmie touched are warmly invited to attend.
Jimmie Roberson's life was a shining example of love, service, and faith. As we gather to remember him, may we carry forward his spirit of kindness and dedication, cherishing the legacy he leaves behind. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
